Individual therapy (also called “individual psychotherapy” or “individual counseling”) is a process in which a visitor works together with a specialized therapist/psychotherapist/ counselor. The environment where the sessions occur is safe, compassionate, professional, and confidential, maintaining all ethical foundations of psychology.

The therapy goals are to explore emotions, beliefs, and/or behaviors, clarify difficult memories or traumas, identify aspects of life that need to change, to self/other/life acceptance, define personal goals, and achieve preferable change.

People seek help for a range of issues, some of which are dealing with important life challenges and changes or childhood trauma, depression or anxiety, personal development, learning about self, and self-acceptance.

The visitor and the therapist, in some cases, may work together only for five or six sessions or even for years. It depends on the special needs of each visitor and their personal, individual goals of therapy.

In order to initiate individual therapy, do not hesitate to get in touch with us and arrange an appointment. You will be asked to provide some initial information to our center to assess the case and decide whether the center is your best option. Following, you will meet with a therapist in person or online for a clinical assessment session where you will have the chance to build an alliance with the therapist and share important, relevant information about yourself, as well as the reasons why you are seeking help. Furthermore, the therapist will be able to answer any questions concerning the center’s services, costs, confidentiality, and what to expect from the course of therapy.

The therapeutic goal depends on the “therapeutic alliance” which is built during the first session and is developed during the consequent sessions for a better therapeutic approach to be developed on an individual basis.

Following, a mutually convenient appointment will be arranged in order to conduct the sessions (typically, sessions are weekly, and each session is one hour in length). During the second session, personal and therapeutic goals will be discussed, as well as therapeutic interventions.
