Group therapy is a process in which a small group of people, which usually consists of six to ten members, meet in person in order to discuss a specific topic that troubles all members of the group.
The group is coordinated either by one or two specialized therapists depending on the group’s topic and the size of each group. Some of the topics a group may have are: grief, anger management, eating disorders, parent psycho-education, adolescent psycho-education, depression, anxiety, emotional management etc.
Guided by the therapist, members of the group share and explore their emotions and behaviors, hear different points of view, experiences, coping mechanisms and receive support from other members with who they share similar difficulties and concerns.
Group therapy provides members an empowering opportunity to share and learn from one another within the context of a safe, supportive environment while working towards change and healing.
